Lawrence Kleinman, M.D.
“We see dialysis as an essential part of our patient’s lives, but it’s not the only part.”
Dr. Lawrence Kleinman has been affiliated with South Shore Dialysis Center for over 20 years, and currently serves as the firm’s Medical Director.
Dr. Kleinman has been practicing medicine for over 30 years. He chose to specialize in nephrology, because it was a way of, “elevating patient health, safety and comfort, and preserving life in a meaningful way.” What makes Dr. Kleinman successful is his attention to detail. “Lots of physicians treat patients, but the truly successful doctors are those who pay attention to the details on a daily basis. Kidney disease and dialysis treatment has many intricacies and complexities. You have to take the time to know the patient and the family, and understand every detail of their treatment, so that a small thing doesn’t become a big thing.”
Dr. Kleinman has been affiliated with South Shore Dialysis Center for more than two decades; not only because of our safety and compliance standards, but because we also share the same approach. “We see dialysis as an essential part of our patient’s lives, but it’s not the only part. What’s really important are the things that matter most to our patients…their health, family, friends and other interests. We work with our patients and their families to provide flexibility, so they can achieve the day-to-day freedom that allows them to do what they want and minimize any inconvenience associated with dialysis.”
Dr. Kleinman is a graduate of Brooklyn College, and received his medical degree from the University of Louvain in Belgium. He completed his internship at Dalhousie University, and completed his fellowship in Nephrology at Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. Kleinman has given lectures on state-of-the-art techniques in nephrology and the treatment of kidney disease.
